Karl Swihart has become a veteran NSA umpire since 1996 traveling to various tournaments, being a mentor to many umpires and training umpires on mechanics and rule interpretations.
Karl is highly admired by teams in NSA Slow Pitch, NSA Fast Pitch and BPA Baseball as the teams know they would be treated fair and all of Karl’s actions would be in the best interest of the teams and NSA / BPA.
Karl was selected to work the NSA Major program and he traveled to multiple states and was a member of the first crew that went to Canada to work the PIF. Karl has umpired every adult level from the Major to Class E for men, women and 16 inch in states and world tournaments.
Karl is one of only two umpires who has been awarded the Pascuzzi NSA National Slow Pitch Umpire of the Year (2000) and the Mike Coppinger (2003) as the NSA National UIC of the Year. In 2012 Karl was honored with the National Recognition – 110 % Award and in 2013 Karl was honored with the Presidential Award of Excellence.
Karl has excelled as both an umpire and UIC which places him in a very elite category.
On November 13, 2013, Karl Swihart was inducted into the NSA Sports Hall of Fame in the Umpire Category.
