NSA Hall of Fame: Red Moore (2008)

CATEGORY: Coach

YEAR INDUCTED: 2008

Red Moore began his softball career in 1963 when he played with Shady Nook in the Sunday Afternoon League in Boone County, Kentucky.  In 1966, he started playing league ball in Florence, Kentucky, which he played for eight years.

Red began his coaching career in the mid-1970’s with a team for his employer, L & N Railroad.  He has taken a few breaks from coaching over the years due to heal issues and to care for his elderly relatives but always came back to the game he loves – softball.

In 2003, his team Red’s Boys placed 3rd in the NSA B World Series and 5th in the NSA B Super World Series.  The next year this same team came back to win 2nd place in both the B World Series and the B Super World Series.  Red was voted Most Valuable  Manager at the World Series and Outstanding Manager at the Super World Series.

In November 2008, Red Moore became the 4th Coach to be inducted into the NSA Hall of Fame.
