NSA Hall of Fame: The Jones Group (2017)
CATEGORY: Meritorious
YEAR INDUCTED: 2017
1982 was the year that not only was the start of NSA but also the year that Mike Jones opened his first bar (Mikey’s) in LaPorte, Indiana. Instantly, Mike began sponsoring local softball league teams and that has been a direction he still takes today in all his businesses. In 2002 the Jones Group was formed and Mike along with his son Brandon began their first step in a new venture and opened a Buffalo Wild Wings in Michigan City and today the Jones Group owns 35+ BWW from Alaska to the Carolinas. The Jones Groups continues to sponsor adult slow pitch (league and tourney teams), fast pitch team, and baseball teams with most sponsorship going to NSA/BPA teams.
In 2011 Indiana NSA and the Jones Group began a partnership which is known as the BWW Series. In the seven years of this partnership, over $22,000.00 has been awarded by the Jones Group to provide travel funds for teams playing in the NSA Super Worlds. The Jones Group has also been a sponsor for several BPA World Series. This partnership is the only one of its kind in the NSA as it focuses 100% on the teams.
On November 2, 2017, The Jones Group was inducted into the NSA Sports Hall of Fame in the Meritorious Category.
