NSA Hall of Fame: Dan Mitchler (2014)

Dan Mitchler began his career with NSA in 1987.  He was one of the original Missouri umpires, along with Mike Coppinger, to join the NSA program when the NSA started in Missouri.

Dan umpired mostly adult tournaments including the Men’s World and Major tournaments during the first few years.  Dan has traveled throughout the country to umpire some of the largest adult world tournaments NSA has conducted.

In 1990, Dan supported Chuck Middleton, NSA National Fastpitch Director, to develop the girl’s fast pitch program.  Dan was instrumental in developing the rules and foundation for the NSA Girl’s Fastpitch Program.

During his career Dan has served as the Site UIC for several of the Girl’s FastPitch World Series. In addition to being dedicated to NSA, Dan works with college leagues to schedule and supply umpires as well as provide training to young umpires.

On November 5, 2014, Dan Mitchler was inducted into the NSA Sports Hall of Fame in the Umpire Category.
