NSA Hall of Fame: Richard Alderson (2020)



Richard “Rick” Alderson started his umpiring career with NSA in 2000 working with the Girls Fast Pitch program.  Rick has worked numerous local, state championships, Youth World Series and Youth Super World tournaments.  He accepted the position of IL Assistant State FP UIC in January 2014 and has ran many clinics and meetings in the state of Illinois.

In addition to umpiring for NSA and high school, Rick also does college ball – officiating Junior College, NAIA, NCAA DII and NCAA DIII and je has worked several Junior College regional tournaments.  At the high school level, Rick has worked many regionals, sections and super-sectionals.  This earned him the opportunity to umpire the IHSA state finals in 2011 and 2015.  He also worked the Illinois Elementary state tournaments since 2005.

Rick was inducted into the Illinois NSA/BPA Hall of Fame on December 1, 2007 and is also a member of the Illinois High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame as an umpire.

On November 7, 2021 Richard Alderson was inducted into the NSA Sports Hall of Fame in the Umpire Category as a member of the 2020 Class.
